Cooking with Manuela: Italian Spritz Aperitivo
May 22, 2019Raise your hand if you are ready for warmer weather and flip-flops, sunshine and one glass (or two!) of this refreshing Italian aperitivo… poolside of course! Everything tastes better in a bikini and with toes dipped in water, don’t you think?!?
Whether you’re celebrating this long holiday weekend (OR my birthday tomorrow!!) this refreshing, fizzy and boozy cocktail, with a bitter note, orange and sweet flavor, is the perfect way to kick off any party.
If you’ve been to Venezia (or anywhere in Italy actually) I’m sure you’ve seen and hopefully tasted a Spritz. There are tons of recipes out there and many local variations.
For this cocktail you can use Aperol (most common) or Campari (a little stronger, higher alcohol content). For the wine part, you can use sparkling prosecco or a good (non sparkling) dry white wine.
As far as the proportion goes, you are welcome to decide what you like best and how strong you like your cocktails.
You could do 1/3 Aperol, 2/3 wine and a splash of soda. Or 1/3 Aperol, 1/3 wine, and 1/3 soda.
In all cases I like to add a slice of orange for decoration and flavor.
And if you are feeling a little cocktail-crazy, you can add a green olive too 😉
Ready to take out your fancy chilled glasses and try this too?!?
Here are some more cocktail ideas for you! You’re welcome 😉
