Let’s kick off the week with this extra creamy and satisfying oatmeal bowl exploding with cranberry seeds and orange flavor
First day of the week. First meal of the day. Let’s make it a good one!
I’m cheering myself up this morning with this extra creamy and cozy steel cut oatmeal bowl exploding with cranberry seeds, filled with orange flavor and a touch of cinnamon. Wouldn’t you like to wake up and cuddle up with this bowl and spoon too?!?
So cozy right?!? And for all the chia and flax seeds fans out there, there is a NEW seed in town 😉 Say hello to these vibrant and versatile cranberry seeds by Ocean Spray®. I got these in my first Bableboxx new product box, to test out and create a recipe to share with you.
Ocean Spray® Cranberry Seeds are a versatile, innovative, clean-label product harvested from sustainably grown cranberries. Not only they are a natural and vibrant red-pop addition to make cute and Instagram-perfect pictures, but most importantly, these red seeds come with a long list of nutritional benefits.
They are an excellent source of fiber (1.6 times the amount of chia and flax seeds) for a happy digestive system. They are a good source of zinc to help your immune system (we could all use some of that right now!), a good source of magnesium to support many functions within the body including production of energy, and good source of Omega 3 fatty acids to increase cardiovascular health. You can read more about Ocean Spray Cranberry Seeds here.
Now, let’s talk about this smooth and creamy oatmeal. This bowl is made with a handful of healthy ingredients, and trust me it will keep you satisfied all morning. All you have to do, is simply toast the steel cut oatmeal, and add to a simmering pan with water and milk (you can chose any milk you normally drink or simply substitute the milk with just water). Let simmer for about thirty minutes in total, add sugar, cinnamon and flavor to taste. Top with your favorites and enjoy as fast as you can. Happy Monday!
In a large saucepan, add the water and milk, and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Add the toasted steel cut oats, allow to return to a boil, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 25 minutes.
Add cranberry seeds, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon, orange zest and orange juice. Simmer for another 5 minutes or until all the liquids are absorbed and you have the desirable texture. Adjust with sugar and cinnamon if needed.
Serve in a bowl, topped with yogurt, berries and more cranberry seeds if you like. Enjoy!
